Ashanti Shequoiya Doug, better known in the media as Ashanti was born October 13 1980 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Ashanti started her career as a teenager and eventually signed to Murder Inc. Records by 2002. She also appeared as a guest on Fat Joe's What's Luv? track as well as Ja Rule's Always on Time track. Both turned into huge smashes. It was the first time for a female artist to take the top two spots on the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at first place and The song What's Luv? She was the first female artist holding the top two spots in the US Billboard Hot 100 With Foolish as number one and what's love at number 2. We will be celebrating with you her special birthday. She is the oldest and Sheshia is the younger sister. Douglas has named her in honour of her father, who was a member of the Ashanti Empire in Ghana where women had power and influence and Douglas would like Ashanti to be a model for the Ashanti Empire. James was her grandfather. James was a civil-rights leader with Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1960s. Ashanti's mom was amazed by her talent after listening to her sing Mary J. Blige Reminisce. Hey Baby (After The Club) was released on radios as well as digital platforms on October 16. She was Latasha In Army Wives and starred in the film Christmas in the City.
