Ashanti Shequoiya Doug, better known in the media as Ashanti was born October 13 1980 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Ashanti started her career as a teenager and eventually signed to Murder Inc. Records by 2002. She also appeared as a guest on Fat Joe's What's Luv? track as well as Ja Rule's Always on Time track. Both turned into huge smashes. It was the first time for a female artist to take the top two spots on the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at first place and The song What's Luv?
